Any boys lacrosse team that plays Orchard Park knows to prepare for the Quakers’ inevitable flurry of dominant play — and yet even with that knowledge, there are only a rare few teams that can withstand the onslaught.

On May 7, Clarence joined that elite group.

Tennis duo wins ECIC Doubles title

Clarence senior tennis players Joey Gentile and Kevin Layer took their first steps toward defending their 2011 Section VI doubles title this past weekend by winning the annual ECIC doubles tournament, which was held at Sweet Home.

Mattress sale to benefit football program

The Clarence High School Football Boosters will hold a mattress sale fundraiser for the high school football program from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, in the Clarence High gym. Brand-name mattresses in all sizes from twin to king, with styles such as pillow top, orthopedic, latex, gel and memory foam, will all be available at 30 to 60 percent off retail price.

Clarence’s baseball team took on Williamsville North Tuesday for the second time in 12 days — and the Red Devils were hoping for a better outcome in the rematch, since a share of the ECIC I regular-season title was on the line.

Senior-day conquest pushes girls lax’s streak to two

For the 11th game this season, Clarence’s girls lacrosse team scored its first goal of the game when it faced Orchard Park on Wednesday, May 9.

On this season’s Senior Day, however, the ending would be different for the Lady Red Devils as they came away from the contest with a 9-3 victory — Clarence’s second consecutive conquest.

Modified hockey suffers first losses

Clarence’s modified hockey team was unable to pick up a win in its first two games of May, which ended the squad’s unbeaten start to its first year of existence.

Girls track team hands Frontier first league loss in five seasons
