Bee Heard

  • I would like to remind all elected officials from the federal level down to state, county and local elections, when they take the oath of office for their elected positions they should take the words very seriously. They are promising to support and uphold the Constitution of the United States and also to perform the job to which they have been elected to the best of their ability. Sometimes I think officials mumble these words and don’t really think what they are saying. In the past, elected officials have been sworn in by county and town clerks or judges, supervisors, councilmen and senators and assemblymen. Sometimes they are sworn in by family and friends; is this legal? I think the town attorney should look into this.
  • I find it very telling about a new administration when one of the first things done is to remove the official Town of Clarence symbol from the vehicles. In a public document, I noticed we now have four town attorneys. It looks to me like there is a trend starting and many bad decisions focused on developers are being made. Does anyone else see this?
  • During the town board meeting, it was sad to see the supervisor talking with councilmen when motions were being made, the town attorney attempting to make a motion and one councilman leaving the meeting not excused as voting on a motion was to take place. Perhaps the town board and town attorney should take a brush-up course on how to run a professional meeting 101.
