Multiple companies fight fire on Hunting Valley Road
Flames that erupted in an attached garage spread rapidly to the rest of the home at 9235 Hunting Valley Road, Clarence, just before 9 a.m. on Jan. 18. Damage was estimated at $350,000. Harris Hill firefighters were backed up by a full second-alarm response.

Amherst Fire Control received numerous phone calls reporting an attached garage on fire at 8:54 a.m. at 9235 Hunting Valley Road in Clarence.
Some callers also reported hearing explosions. Harris Hill and Clarence fire companies were dispatched along with East Amherst Fire Company’s Firefighter Assist and Search Team. Firefighters found the garage on fire, with flames extending into the house, according to information from Amherst Fire Control.
A second alarm was struck, bringing crews from Clarence Center and Main-Transit fire companies to assist. The fire was declared under control at 10:25 a.m., according to Amherst Fire Control.
No injuries were reported, and the cause is still to be determined. There was an estimated $250,000 in damage to the structure and an estimated $100,000 damage to the contents.
Harris Hill Fire Chief Scott Switzer was the officer in charge of the incident.
