Puppet Play — An 8-week workshop lead by local educators for children between the ages of six and 12, teaching the fundamentals of theatre and acting through puppetry. Students will be grouped by age and develop their performance skills, design their own puppet and write a scene. Children will strengthen their creative confidence, further their creative problem-solving skills, and nurture their natural talents while developing a capacity for public speaking. The workshops run 9 a.m.-12 noon Saturdays beginning Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Allendale Theatre, 203 Allen St., Buffalo; $. 884-4400, www.theatreofyouth.org

Cold Laser Seminar — Physical therapist Sam Iraci and pain specialist Lou Banas will sponsor a free seminar on how cold laser is the new solution for chronic pain. They will discuss how this new technology successfully treats arthritis, migraine, sinusitis and many other pain symptoms, 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 at the Harlem Road Community Center, 4255 Harlem Road, Amherst; Free.
