WNY Food Drive runs for next six weeks

The annual Western New York Food Drive has begun and will run through Wednesday, March 14.

New York State Assemblywoman Jane Corwin is teaming up with The Clarence Food Pantry, Food Bank of Western New York and St. John’s Outreach in Lockport, as well as a number of Erie and Niagara County libraries, to collect canned goods and nonperishable items.

Corwin said the drive will try to build awareness for New York State Hunger Awareness Day, which falls on March 15, according to a release from her office.

“After the holiday season, donations of food and clothing begin to slow down, and charitable organizations run low on supplies,” said Corwin. “We want to help those organizations in Western New York that help those in need by continuing to build awareness for hunger and aiding them in restocking their supply.”

Items may be dropped off at the Clarence Public Library, 3 Town Place; the East Aurora Public Library, 550 Main St.; or the Elma Public Library, 1860 Bowen Road. Corwin’s office at 8180 Main St. will also serve as a drop-off location.

For more information, contact Corwin’s office at 839-4691.
