Gleason’s gymnasts fare well in pair of meets

Clarence Middle seventh grader Avery Wallace, competing for the Gleason’s Gymnastics Level 8 team, captured first place all around in the Junior Division at the recently-held Snowflake Invitational with a score of 35.8.

Wallace was first on balance beam with 9.125 and on bars with a 9.1. She also took second on both vault and floor exercise.

At the Pinky Stone Invitational in Syracuse, Wallace was 12th all around with a combined score of 35.25. She took second on floor with a 9.5, ninth on bars with a 9.2 and was 12th on vault with an 8.75. Wallace’s all around score of 35.25 qualified her for the New York State Gymnastics Championships, which will be held in Rochester on April 1.

Clarence Center’s Julia Ray, meanwhile represented Gleason’s level 7 team in the 26th annual Leather Stocking Invitational in Utica. Competing in the 12-13 age group, Ray placed on bars and had a strong showing in the other events.
