Swan named honorary chairwoman of Brothers of Mercy Caritas Awards Dinner
Ann L. Swan of Clarence has been named the honorary chairwoman of the 11th annual Brothers of Mercy Caritas Awards Dinner. The dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens Restaurant in Lancaster.
Proceeds from the dinner benefit the Brothers of Mercy Campus Foundation in support of the three nonprofit facilities on the Clarence campus: the Brothers of Mercy Senior Apartment Complex,
Brothers of Mercy Sacred Heart Adult Home, and Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Swan is executive director of the William E. and Ann L. Swan Foundation and chairwoman of the Hilbert College board of trustees. A teacher of health and physical education for 30 years, she is a graduate of the University at Buffalo.
She has served on the boards of numerous civic and charitable organizations, including the Foundation of the Diocese of Buffalo, Gilda’s Club of WNY, YMCA and Christ the King Seminary. She has served on the American Heart Association board, Kenan Center, First Niagara Bank Foundation, WNY Women’s Fund and WNY Grantmakers.
In addition to being a past recipient of the Brothers of Mercy Patsy Casilio Humanitarian of the Year Award, Swan has also been awarded the Gaudete Award by St. Bonaventure University, Christ the King Seminary Curé of Ars Award, and the Community Leaders Honoree Award by the National Conference for Community and Justice.
