Intention is to leave town in better shape

It’s been just over a year since I took office, and I wanted to take the time, publicly, to thank the Town Board; my deputy supervisor, Kathy Hallock; and all the employees of the Town of Clarence for their hard work during 2012. I can truly say that I continue to be impressed by the dedication of all of the employees of the Town of Clarence, how well they work together and how efficient they are.

The Town of Clarence has one of the lowest tax rates in Erie County. It has more than 1,000 acres of parkland and a thriving green-space program that promises to keep the rural feel we all acknowledge as an important part of Clarence.

The success that we enjoy today is based on the foundation that was laid during the last 15 years by the former supervisors and their town boards. My hope is that 15 years from now, the same can be said for our town board, that we always acted in a financially prudent, fiscally sound manner, adding services that benefit Town of Clarence residents as finances dictate, and that we left the town in better shape than when we started our tenure as public servants.

I would like to wish you all a healthy, Happy New Year, and I hope that 2013 brings you all that you both need and desire.

Good luck and God bless.

Dave Hartzell
Clarence Town Supervisor
