Milbrandt named Western Division scholarship winner

Clarence Center resident Julia Milbrandt was named the recipient of a $1,000 Western Division Federal Credit Union 2015 Scholarship Award. Scholarships are awarded to Western Division members who are high school seniors planning to further their education at a two- or four-year college or university.

Six scholarships were awarded to students who exhibited excellence in four categories: GPA, community service, leadership roles and an essay question. This year’s winners received $1,000 each, with one recipient awarded an additional $500 due to his service to the community.

In addition to Milbrandt, this year’s winners were Mary McCall of Kenmore; Autumn Howe of Sinclairville, New York; Joshua Barrett of Grand Island; Emily Blidy of Buffalo; and Eric O’Brien of Akron, who was also the recipient of the Outstanding Service to the Community Award.

“We are a strong believer in education; our young adults are our future and their success is our success,” Craig Mellenthien, president and CEO of Western Division, said. “We are happy to help contribute, encourage and support these young future leaders.”
