Thanks for vote of confidence

I am humbled and honored that more than 4,400 eligible Clarence residents came out this past Tues- day and the vast majority elected me to serve on the Clarence School Board.

As I begin to write this, I just reviewed the section from the local paper that lists the 245 outstanding seniors from Western New York schools. I realize this is what these past few months have been about, not just advocating for the passage of the school budget, bus proposition and running for the School Board, but working hard to ensure that every Clarence student enjoys success.

It was a spirited campaign, but it is over now, and as I promised, I will work with all constituents to maintain and grow one of the best school systems not only in Western New York but New York State. I intend to also keep the other promises I made: work to eliminate unfunded state mandates and the gap elimination adjustment, examine testing at all grade levels, work with the district to establish long-range budget planning to avoid financial upswings and the uncertainties from year to year, and implement creative ways to be more efficient, resulting in savings to avoid cutting programs and allow the restoration of others.

I have already started working to get up to speed on issues as I realize things look different and are more complex when viewed from the inside.

I promise to be approachable, whether you ask a question at a board meeting send an email, or stop me in the street or grocery store. Most importantly I am looking forward to attending as many events at all of our schools as possible because I am proud of our school system and I pledge to be one of our best ambassadors.

Thank you again for placing your trust in me.

Dennis Priore
