Clarence Crusader Comic Contest

Submissions for the “Create Your Own Clarence Crusader Comic Contest” are due by Friday, Dec. 16. The contest is open to three age groups: 6-9, 10-13 and 14-18. Story and artwork must be original, and submissions must be turned in or postmarked by Dec. 16. No email submissions will be accepted. The grand prize for each age group is a 7-inch Nook, and the second prize for each age group is a $50 gift certificate to Monkey See, Monkey Do Children’s Bookstore. This program is sponsored by the Clarence Public Library and the Clarence Youth Bureau. Thank you to the Friends of the Clarence Public Library for supporting this program.

On the Map! Adventures in Mapping

At 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, an event will explore the art of map making. Participants will learn about different elements of mapping and create their own three-dimensional map of a real or imagined place of their choice. The program is for children ages 8 to 12.

Create a Custom Holiday Card

Local artist David Wasik is back with a workshop on making your own holiday card out of recycled materials. Children will put their imaginations to work designing and creating a card, which they will be able to take with them and share with others. Space is limited. Registration began Dec. 5. The program will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19. Children of all ages are welcome to attend. Those younger than 5 must be accompanied by an adult during the program.
