Daemen College to host discussion series

Daemen College will host a reading and discussion series on civic engagement that will be based on the writings of some of the most renowned authors in philosophy, literature and religion.

“The Civically Engaged Reader” program, sponsored by Humanities New York, will be offered from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays from April 25 to May 16 in Daemen’s Business Building, 4380 Main St., Snyder.

Discussions on civic engagement and community service will reflect on an anthology of short readings drawn from published works by a range of authors, including Jane Addams, Aristotle, Bertolt Brecht, Andrew Carnegie, Toni Morrison and Pablo Neruda.

Participants will be provided books for their use while in attendance at each event.

Pre-registration is required for participants to receive reading materials in advance of the discussion.

To pre-register, contact Michelle Thompson at 839-8334 or email mthompso@daemen.edu.
