Josephine J. Zelawski, arts, crafts director


Zelawski Zelawski Josephine J. Zelawski (nee Lelito), 90, of Clarence, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017.

Mrs. Zelawski was born in Lackawanna on Jan. 28, 1927. She was employed by the City of Lackawanna and was the director of arts and crafts as part of the Home Bureau Association. She coordinated the lunch program for seniors at the Bicentennial Hall, and she also enjoyed preparing traditional Polish foods.

She was a member of the Western New York Rose Society and enjoyed watching “The Lawrence Welk Show” and TV game shows, as well as listening to traditional Polish music.

Mrs. Zelawski is survived by four children, Roberta Muir, Melanie Coates, Richard Jr. and Eugene; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; one grandchild; and five siblings, Bertha Darmstedter, Mary Garbacz, Florence Chomen, Walter Lelito and Felicia Lelito.

A celebration of life will be planned for spring 2018. Arrangements are entrusted to the J. Leonard McAndrew Funeral Home, LLC, 32 John St., Akron. Memorials may be made to Bristol Home, 1500 Main St., Buffalo, NY 14209.
