Buffalo Cigars to open Transit Road location

Cigar and tobacco enthusiasts will soon have another place to relax with a stogie, as the owners of Buffalo Cigars are in the final preparations for opening a second location on Transit Road in Amherst.

A grand opening for the business, to include a retail store, lounge and an upstairs club for members, will be held in early February at the new location, at 7032 Transit, between Wehrle Drive and Main Street, but there will be a soft opening within the next couple of weeks, according to Megan Gordon, the business’s director of marketing.

Buffalo Cigars’ first location, at 2911 Southwestern Blvd. in Orchard Park, opened in April 2016. The business is co-owned by Glen Smith and Paul Eusanio.

“The owners recently decided to expand their territory,” Gordon said. “We are looking to bring the experience to more people.”

The new store setup will be similar to the Southtowns location and includes about 1,500 square feet of retail space.

“We have all of everyone’s smoking needs covered, with an assortment of cigars, humidors and accessories,” Gordon said.

According to Gordon, the building, formerly a salon, was heavily renovated to accommodate the store and its upstairs club, which will have a separate entrance.

She said there would be an annual fee for membership in the club.

“The owners are still working on the price, but we want to make sure we make it affordable,” Gordon said.

The Northtowns store will be outfitted with humidified lockers to allow customers a place to store their cigars and accessories. Gordon added that a set of the same type of lockers was recently added to the Orchard Park location.

Additionally, the Amherst store will have a glass-front humidor where cigars for purchase will be stored. Gordon said having the cigars stored in a humidor that's set into the wall will allow smoke to better ventilate in the lounge area.

“We want people to come in and feel comfortable,” she said.

Buffalo Cigars’ Southtowns store is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays; and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.

Gordon said the hours of the Northtowns location will most likely be the same.

“The hours may fluctuate, however, if there is a sports game or special event being held at the store.” she said. “We have a lot of events going on.”

For details about Buffalo Cigars’ events or to stay updated on the soft opening or grand opening date, Gordon said people should sign up to be a member of its email club through the website, www.buffalocigars.com.

Gordon added that details about the openings and events will also be posted on the business’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
