David A. Bogey, teacher

David Adrian Bogey, 77, of Clarence, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017.

Mr. Bogey was born on Feb. 11, 1940, in Jamestown, New York.

A graduate of Kensington High School, he went on to Roberts Wesleyan College in North Chili, New York, and graduated summa cum laude in 1961. He received two master’s degrees in Russian history from the University at Buffalo.

Mr. Bogey taught in Springville and Kenmore prior to his career at Clarence High School, where he taught advanced placement studies in European history, psychology and Canadian studies. He also taught night school at Niagara County Community College for several years.

Mr. Bogey was president of the Clarence Teachers Association for eight years. He was also a longtime member of the Akron Free Methodist Church and the Lancaster Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He served as a church leader, organist, choir director, adult Sunday School teacher, youth director and member of the church choir.

Mr. Bogey is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lynette (nee Lundberg); two children, Lynette Rushing and Andrew Bogey; four grandchildren; and one sibling, Carole Bryant.

A memorial service was held on Jan. 6 at the Lancaster Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Arrangements were made by the Ross Funeral Home of Akron.
