AARP Tax Service

Trained tax aide volunteers will provide tax preparation assistance. Bring your 2016 tax return, 2017 records, your Social Security card and a photo ID. Assistance begins Feb. 1 and will take place from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through April 15. First come, first served.

Pre-School JumpBunch

The JumpBunch program introduces sports and fitness to your child in a hands-on setting; builds coordination and interest in sports; teaches through praise and encouragement; offers a safe, noncompetitive environment; and promotes healthy fitness and nutrition habits.

The program is for children ages 3 to 5, and all children must be accompanied by a parent. Registration is required for each JumpBunch session. The next session will take place from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2. Each class includes warm-ups, floor exercises, the sport activity of the week, stretching and a cool-down.

Beginners Chess Clinic

The Clarence Public Library will host a five-week chess clinic for beginners, sponsored by Kids Play Chess, LLC. Registration began Jan. 20 and covers all five sessions. Space is limited to the first 20 registrants. Sessions will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 3, Feb. 10, Feb. 17, March 3 and March 10. Each 90-minute session begins with instruction using demonstration boards, computer projections, and sometimes pen and paper assignments.
