Cobra Wrestling to offer college prospect camp

The Cobra Wrestling Academy, located in the Urbandale Plaza that is at the corner of Dick Road and George Urban Boulevard in Depew, is offering a way to help local wrestlers looking to participate in the sport beyond their high school years.

The second annual College Prospect Camp will be held Aug. 6-10 at the Academy. The camp, open to anyone in grades seven through 12, costs $400, which includes meals and lodging within the Academy.

The purpose of the camp is to expose high school wrestlers, who want to wrestle in college, to different coaches and wrestling programs from across the different levels of collegiate competition.

There is a 75 camper maximum. Campers are encouraged to bring air mattresses, as they will be sleeping on mats.

Typical daily sessions will include clinics, drills, weightlifting/conditioning, and special activities and discussions.

College programs that were represented at last year’s camp included the University at Buffalo, the University at North Carolina, Penn, Mercyhurst, Brockport and NCCC, among others.
