CALL FOR ARTISTS — The National Garden Festival has issued a call for artists for its inaugural Buffalo-Style Garden Art Sale, Sunday, June 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Parkside Lodge in Delaware Park, Buffalo. Organizers are seeking artists to sell garden or nature-themed items, or works that can be displayed in a garden setting, in any medium – sculpture, plants, planters, metalwork, paintings, lighting, vintage signs, woodwork, architectural remnants, fountains, found art, jewelry, ceramics, etc. Artists can apply online at www.na tionalgardenfestival.com by March 31. The event is a fundraiser for the National Garden Festival and artists will be charged a $10 application fee, $50 booth fee and 10 percent of their sales from the event.

CALL FOR WORK — The 13th annual Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts is seeking artists and craftspeople to apply for the juried 2012 artist’s market. GRANT AVAILABLE — Undergraduate students interested in journalism, as well as professional journalists seeking additional academic training, can apply for college and graduate school scholarships for the 2012-12 academic year from the Greater Buffalo International Chapter, Society of Professional Journalists. Applicants must be residents of Western New York. Northwestern Pennsylvania or Southern Ontario and attend accredited colleges or universities that offer courses to enhance journalism training. Applicants may also be outside the chapter area, but attend Western New York colleges. Applicants must be working journalists or prospective college juniors, seniors or graduate students. Applicants must include a brief statement outlining commitment to a career in journalism and letters of recommendation. To apply, visit the society on Facebook or blogspot.com.
