Garden Friends hosting Hawk Creek presentation

Farmers Market open on Saturdays

Clarence Hollow Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at 10717 Main St. The annual Farm & Tractor Day will be held on Sept. 22, featuring farm tractors, farm life and blacksmith exhibits and the opportunity to learn from the area’s farmers. The children’s market activity in the Lil Sprouts Tent will be “Barefoot Ambassador Books.” OutoFar Trio will perform from 10 a.m. to noon. The Winery of the Week will be Rooster Hill Vineyards. Tai chi classes planned by Rec Department

The Clarence Recreation Department will offer tai chi from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday nights at the Sheridan Hill Elementary School gymnasium, 4560 Boncrest Drive East. Session I will be held Sept. 17 and 24 and Oct. 1, 15, 22 and 29. Session II will be Nov. 5, 19 and 26 and Dec. 3, 10 and 17. Session III will be Jan. 7, 14 and 28 and Feb. 4, 11 and 25. Session IV will be April 8, 15, 22 and 29 and May 6, 13 and 20. The cost for sessions I, II and III is $25. Session IV will be $30. All ages are welcome. Kiwanis Club meeting at Helen’s Kitchen

Contestants sought for Scarecrow Contest

Contestants are invited to enter the Clarence Hollow Farmers Market’s annual Scarecrow Contest. Contest registration begins Saturday, Sept. 22, and will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the market’s Country Store, and again on Sept. 29, when contest sign-in/set-up takes place. This year, the Scarecrow Contest judging corridor will be along Main Street between Ransom and Salt roads. The contest will be held from Sept. 29 to Oct. 13. Migraine support group to meet on Sept. 24

The next meeting of the Western New York Migraine and Headache Disorder Support Group will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, in the All Care for Women building at 6095 Transit Road, East Amherst. “Migraines, Triggers and Comorbid Conditions — Do you know yours?” is the topic for the evening. People are asked not to wear perfume or cologne as this may be a migraine trigger for some. For information about the meeting, call 512-3983.

Nativity Guild holding potluck, concert

Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Women’s Guild will hold its first meeting, a potluck social, Tuesday, Sept. 25. Members are asked to bring a dish to pass. Dinner will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., in the Msgr. Paa Social Center, followed by a piano/organ concert by Rev. John Leising, senior parochial vicar at Nativity, and Robert Volkman, director of music. Women of the parish, 18 years and older, are invited to join guild members for dinner. St. Mary’s Church in Swormville will host “Mission for Truth: Free Yourself from the Stresses of Life” from 6:30 to 7:40 p.m. from Oct. 1 to 3. The Rev. Francis Pompeii, a Franciscan friar from Buffalo, evangelist and author of the Franciscan Mystery Players teen ministry, will preach the mission. St. Mary’s is located at 6919 Transit Road.
