Dine out to help sheltered animals

Ken-Ton Editor

A group of restaurants are participating in a fundraiser next week to benefit the Erie County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The event, dubbed The Big Chew, will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6, and will feature 30 restaurants that will donate a portion of the amount of their meal sales to the SPCA.

“We are not sponsored in any way. We rely totally on donations, so those who dine out at participating restaurants on that day will be supporting us in a major way,” said Bethany Kloc, the event’s organizer. “All proceeds will be applied toward services and support for the animals we have at our shelter.”

The Big Chew fundraiser generates about $10 for the organization, which provides services to approximately 14,000 animals a year, said Kloc.

“This fundraiser marks our favorite day of the year because we each go out for breakfast, lunch and then dinner at the participating establishments,” Kloc added. “The more who dine, the more we receive.”
