Iside ‘Izzy’ M. Tiranno, known for recipes at Johnny’s Meats

Tiranno Tiranno Iside M. Tiranno, (nee D’Andrea), died Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at her home in Clarence. She was 82.

Known to her friends and family as “Izzy,” Mrs. Tiranno, was known for the Italian specialties she cooked at her husband’s market, Johnny’s Meats, in Buffalo.

She was born in San Pio, Italy. During World War II, German soldiers commandeered her family’s home for more than a year. When she was a teenager, her father moved the family to the United States.

Mrs. Tiranno completed high school at Sacred Heart Academy and graduated from college with a degree in nursing.

Her first husband died when she was 30 years old. She remarried John Tiranno several years later. He died in 1999.

She retired from Johnny’s Meats in 2013, but her son, daughter and grandson continue cooking using her recipes at the store.

Mrs. Tiranno is survived by five daughters, Paula Janicki, Carol Vogel, Laurie Aloisio, Donna Burczynski and Lisa Tiranno; two sons, Michael Aloisio and Charles Tiranno; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 2 at St. Gregory the Great Church.

Arrangements were made by Perna, Dengler, Roberts Funeral Home.
