Rose M. Burns, secretary, Senior Center volunteer

Burns Burns Rose M. Burns, 95, of Clarence, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017.

Mrs. Burns was born in Buffalo and graduated from South Park High School where she played tennis, basketball, baseball and volleyball and lettered in all of those sports. In 1939, she worked for the Curtiss-Wright Aircraft Corp. in Buffalo as an office secretary.

She also worked as a secretary for Schiandra’s Toy Store in Buffalo, the W.T. Grant store in Clarence, her husband’s business, known as “Cotton’s Mobile Trim Shop,” and her daughter’s dance studio, “Pat Taylor School of Dance,” for 32 years.

Mrs. Burns volunteered in the office of the Clarence Senior Center. She then switched jobs and began calling bingo on Thursday afternoons and Wednesday evenings. She also was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Harris Hill Fire Company.

She loved to travel and be with her family, and several family reunions were held in Florida, Colorado, Texas and Clarence.

Mrs. Burns is survived by four children, Patricia, Robert, Allen and Bryan; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 4375 Harris Hill Road, Williamsville, followed by a breakfast at Milos Restaurant, 5877 Main St. Williamsville. Memorials may be made to the Clarence Senior Center.
