Girls hoops wins thrice in summer leagues

Clarence’s varsity girls basketball team came away with three wins during recent play in both the Sweet Home and Amherst Summer Leagues.

Clarence’s first win in the Sweet Home Summer League came at the expense of Lockport, 26-17. Kayla Callaghan scored half her team’s points to guide Clarence’s efforts. Maria Bienko and Gabbie Andzel each added four points, while Theresa Bienko chipped in with three points.

Clarence pounded Mount St. Mary the next night, 34-8. Callaghan was again the sole scorer in double figures, with 10 points, while Morgan Saraf and Megan McCaith each had six points. Theresa Bienko and Emily Jebens each added five points.

Clarence switched to Amherst Summer League play, where it defeated Williamsville North, 55-31. Callaghan hit four three-point baskets to produce the majority of her 15 points, while Theresa Bienko added 12 points. Grace Barker hit for a pair of three-pointers for most of her eight points, while Saraf scored six points.

In JV action, Clarence lost to Sacred Heart, 25-17. Josie Flemming led the way with eight points.
