Free writing seminar set at NCCC

Niagara County native and award-winning retired Gannett columnist Valerie Zehl will offer her popular “Writing Your Own Life Story” seminar at Niagara County Community College during the professional development days in January. Two sessions are free and are scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon and 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, on the NCCC Sanborn Campus, 3111 Saunders Settlement Road. Lee Foundation seeks grant applicants

The Patrick P. Lee Foundation is accepting applications for supported employment services for individuals with mental illnesses. The Lee Foundation, a private foundation based in Buffalo, focuses its investments in two key areas: mental health and education. The unemployment rate in the United States for individuals receiving public mental health services is 80 percent. Grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded to nonprofit organizations providing supported employment services to individuals with mental illness. Niagara County Builders offering workshops

The Niagara County Builders will be offering business training in the spring and fall of 2018. Business Builders Workshops are open to existing businesses in Western New York. Attendees will learn about strategic planning, best practice growth methods and digital transformation from local experts. All workshops are in the Wurlitzer Building 908 Niagara Falls Blvd., Room 102, North Tonawanda. The cost is $30, and proceeds benefit the Niagara County Builders Association.
