Young Audiences Executive Director Named — Michael Weidrich has been named executive director of Young Audiences of Western New York (YA-WNY), an independent affiliate of the Young Audiences national network. Weidrich has more than 20 years of professional experience in both the not-for-profit and for-profit sector, having served as executive director of the Lark Street Business Improvement District Albany’s Arts District, and the Pride Center of the Capital Region. Weidrich founded Albany’s 1st Fridays in 2006 and coordinated the monthly arts walk for nearly eight years, growing the event from three small galleries to more than 50 venues city-wide. Weidrich is also a lifelong artist, having exhibited his digital artworks internationally.

Ronald McDonald House Holds Rock Your Socks Photo Contest — On Wednesday, Feb. 14, Ronald McDonald Charities of Western New York is launching its second annual “Rock Your Socks Photo Contest” — red and white striped socks, that is — to raise awareness and support for the Buffalo Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western New York invites individuals, businesses and community groups to support the Buffalo Ronald McDonald House by purchasing a pair of their famous red and white striped socks, take your best Rock Your Socks photo and enter the contest by uploading your photograph at www.rmhcwny.org/get-your-socks for your chance to win $500 plus website and social media exposure.
