All involved can be proud of show

Kudos to producer Lou Vitello and pit orchestra conductor extraordinaire Andrea Runfola for staging another amazing high school musical in “Cabaret.”

I wondered how the Clarence High School Drama Club was going to top last year’s phenomenal production of “Phantom of the Opera,” but this year’s performance was just as powerful. The performers, pit orchestra and backstage workers all combined to produce one of the most memorable productions in the history of Clarence High School.

It is truly a shame the club will be losing the services of dynamic seniors Raffi Wright — who played the Phantom in last year’s musical and Igor in 2016’s “Young Frankenstein” — and Justin Mc- Mullen, but I am sure that uber-talented underclassmen Bryan Renzoni and Lindsey Scanio will continue the long tradition of dramatic excellence at Clarence High School.

Gun control legislation needs adoption

Our political parties need to adopt Federal Assault Weapons Ban H.R.4269. This legislation bans private ownership of assault weapons and has been languishing in the House of Representatives for more than two years. It needs 50 more co-sponsors to be adopted by a simple majority.

Contents of the legislation are available online to help educate our students and communities. The bill can be viewed online at https://www.congress.gov/ bill/114th-congress/house-bill /4269/text.
