CHA readies for Hollowfest, with new additions

JEAN O’CONNELL
President Clarence Hollow Association

The Clarence Hollow Association’s biggest fundraising event is almost here. Since July 4 falls on a Wednesday, we have scheduled Hollowfest from noon to 11 p.m. Friday, June 29; Saturday, June 30; and Sunday, July 1. Fireworks presented by The Skylighters will be featured at 10 p.m. Sunday.

Once again, there will be all-day ride bracelet specials for $20 from Hammerl Amusements. We have increased our vendors and especially our food vendors, so look for more choices, including chicken dinners. As always, the beer tent will be featured every day from 3 to 5 p.m., and the featured bands will start at 7 p.m.

We are also bringing back the Touch-A-Truck event from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday for a $5 entrance fee. At 1 p.m. Sunday, the hot dog-eating contest will take place and the winner receives a $250 prize. To sign up, email hmilone@grantsareus.com or call 759-8580.

New features this year will be a petting zoo from 2 to 5 p.m. every day. Also, for the first time, from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday for $10 per person, you can take a tethered hot air balloon ride 200 feet in the air. For more Hollowfest details, check our website at www.clarencehollowassociation.com or visit us on Facebook.

The first Asa Ransom House lawn concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, June 21. The group performing is Anastazja. Check it out on Facebook. There are refreshments for sale, and remember to bring your chair or blanket.

I want to thank all those who made the Memorial Day barbecue a success. We had excellent weather and, as always, good food. Also, a special thank you to the Clarence Youth Center for entertaining the children with its face-painting expertise.

As always, the basket raffle was a big hit, and in addition to all the CHA board members donating baskets, special thanks go to the following for their donations: Alethea’s, Babycakes Cupcakery, Brady Insurance, Buffalo Joe’s, Clarence Deli, Clarence Liquor

Mart, Cornerstone Bar &

Grill, Executive Cleaners,

Family Chocolate Shoppe,

Farmer’s Market,

Goodrich Coffee, Health &

Wellness, Hector’s, and

Hollow Bistro & Brew.

Also, Kabob & Curry,

Murphy Brown’s, Notorius

Dog, Orazio’s, Passport

Wine & Liquor, Paula’s

Donuts, Penny Lane Café,

Spruce Meadow Farms,

Steph & Elli, and Susan Villiers.

In closing, I would like to thank the Clarence Town Board for donating funds to keep the flags flying in Clarence Hollow. Flags need constant replacing, and if you see one on the ground, contact Bob Lenz, our flag chairman, at 759-2315.
