BOE approves new Sheridan Hill principal

Arroyo Arroyo The Clarence Board of Education unanimously voted last week to approve Jenna Arroyo as the principal at Sheridan Hill Elementary School.

Arroyo is currently the principal at Newfane Elementary School, a position she has held since 2016. Prior to her Newfane experience, she taught third, fifth and sixth grade in the Oakfield Alabama District for nine years.

Arroyo received her bachelor’s degree in childhood education from SUNY Geneseo and her master’s degree in special education from the University at Buffalo. She also earned a certificate of advanced studies from Stony Brook University.

The process used to select the new principal at Sheridan Hill was rigorous. Clarence received more than 50 applications for the position, and an initial committee made up of teachers, administrators, support staff and a parent interviewed eight candidates. Arroyo emerged as the top candidate after a second round of interviews with district administrators and an extensive reference check.

She will begin her new position later this month.
